It is unlawful for any person to possess in any public place other than upon the premises of a licensed on-sale dealer, any glass, can, bottle or other container containing an alcoholic beverage on which the seal has been broken, unless in a container approved by the city commission in connection with a special event.  Events will considered for approval by the Deadwood City Commission after a public hearing has been held.

City approved events that allow for open container will be designated to specific zones.  Signs will be posted as consumers enter and exit the approved zones for open container. 

Qualifying special events for open container shall be approved by the Deadwood City Commission and will be restricted to one the following zones:

Zone 1:  Includes Main Street from 531 Main Street to 715 Main Street, Deadwood Street from Main Street to Pioneer Way, Lee Street from Broadway Street to Pioneer Way, Wall Street from Broadway Street to Pioneer Way, All of Gold Street, and Broadway Street from Shine Street to Wall Street.

Zone 2:  Include Sherman Street from Pioneer Way to the south side of Pine Street, Deadwood Street from Pioneer way to Sherman Street, Seiver Street, Pine Street from Main Street to Sherman Street, and Lee Street from Pioneer Way to Sherman Street.

Zone 3:  Includes Deadwood Street between Main Street and Pioneer Way and adjacent sidewalk located along 685 Main Street.

Zone 4:  Includes Outlaw Square only (between Main Street, Deadwood Street, and Pioneer Way.
