Deadwood Volunteer Fire Department

The mission of the Deadwood Volunteer Fire Department (DVFD) is to provide the best service to the members of our community with the means available to us mindful of our motto:  HISTORIC PRESERVATION THRU FIRE PREVENTION AND SUPPRESSION.  The DVFD accomplishes it mission through ongoing training, public education, and fire prevention. 

Deadwood is located in the northern Black Hills of western South Dakota and is a designated National Historic Landmark by the United States Secretary of the Interior.   On average, 2 million visitors come to Deadwood and participate in an assortment of indoor and outdoor activities and events each year.  

Deadwood Volunteer Fire Department's objectives shall be the preservation and protection of life and property in and around the City of Deadwood and other areas as are approved by the general membership in such a manner as to provide assistance to others when called upon by another agency seeking mutual aid.
