Our Mission

The mission of the Public Works Department is to provide the highest level of quality service to the citizens and visitors of the City of Deadwood. Staff is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the street system, wastewater and storm water collection systems, water distribution system, and public buildings used for city business and for tourism. Through delivery of quality service, the Public Works Department strives to enhance the physical, social and economical growth of the City of Deadwood.

Staff is dedicated to assuring the residents and visitors to the Deadwood community a safe, worry-free environment. This mission is accomplished by use of the best available technology, equipment, innovative and cooperative management, staff interaction, and most importantly TEAMWORK.

Administration

The Public Works Department Main Office is located at 108 Sherman Street. The Water and Street Divisions facility is located at 67 Dunlop Avenue. The administration manages the day-to-day operation of the department, coordinates with other agencies related to special events or projects, assures city infrastructure needs are addressed, performs project management, and protects the assets of Deadwood along with providing a quality environment to live work, and/or play.

Public Works Administration manages the department by providing leadership, policy development, career development and support to staff. Administration also provides technical support to the City Commission, Historical Preservation  Commission, Planing and Zoning, and the residents of Deadwood.

We appreciate all feedback from the public. Please tell us how we are doing, report maintenance item, or let us know your ideas for Deadwood. A few items to inform us about:  potholes, malfunctioning streetlights, manhole covers, etc.
