Centennial Archives Collection

The Centennial Archives at the Deadwood Public Library were started in 1976 by the South Dakota Bicentennial Committee.  The archives are housed in the South Dakota Room and in the library vault.  The historical treasures include city, business and telephone directories, cemetery registers, school annuals and local history books.  Library computers provide access to digitized historical newspapers and Ancestry.com records. Our historic photo collection is currently being moved to archival sleeves, scanned and cataloged for searchable readiness.  Over 7,000 photos are completed.
