Sharon Martinisko serves as Commissioner with oversight of Public Works Department and Utilities, the Safety Committee and the City Representative to the Black Hills Council of Local Governments. She is in her first term as City Commissioner and is very active in the community serving as secretary on the boards of the Lead Deadwood Area Lions Club and the Tomahawk Country Club. She is also a member of the local Elks Lodge, the Main Street Initiative and served as Chair for the Deadwood Trust for Historic Preservation where she organized information nights to promote Historic Preservation programs.

Sharon and her husband John purchased an historic carriage house in 2004 spending summers in Deadwood. In 2010 they moved here permanently, and Sharon began to work for NeighborWorks Dakota Home Resources as Community Outreach Coordinator from 2010-2013.

Prior to moving to Deadwood, Sharon lived in Wasilla, Alaska for 35 years where she taught math and science in middle school. While in Alaska she started a church food bank as well as taught Sunday school. She has a son in Watertown, RI, a daughter in Missoula MT, a stepson in Dallas, TX, and a stepson in Kneeland, CA.​
