Responsibilities

The Parks Division maintains the beauty and esthetics of public property set aside for the enjoyment of residents and visitors. Staff is not only responsible for the landscaped and flowered areas adjacent to the city entry signs, buildings, and parks, but they also perform general lawn care, watering and upkeep as well as public improvement projects on all city property across Deadwood.

In addition, staff maintains the Mickelson Trail and Whitewood Creek Trail as they traverse through the City of Deadwood and the entirety of the Deadwood Event Complex. Special event set-up and teardown as well as snow removal along public sidewalks and stairs also fall on the Parks Division of Public Works.

What you can do to help maintain our parks:  

  • Please clean up after yourself when utilizing city property.
  • Please leash your dogs and clean up after them when utilizing city property
  • Don’t pour oil or chemicals on the grass or in storm water drains.
  • Be courteous of others' use as well as your own.
