Porthole to the Past: Deadwood's Termesphere

In 2001 international renowned artist and local native Spearfish, South Dakota resident Dick Termes was commissioned to create a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork for the City of Deadwood and the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission.  Termes is best known for his six-point perspective paintings on large spheres known as “Termespheres”.  Deadwood's Termesphere depicts Deadwood City's mining camp from the junction of Lee and Main Street from 1876 right before the September 26, 1879 fire that destroyed most of Main Street.
