City Archives Student Internship Program

City of Deadwood Archives internship program provides local high school and undergraduate students an opportunity to work in the field of archives and collections management.  Prospective students will receive a unique opportunity to work beside the Historic Preservation staff on a variety of projects as related to the preservation, protection and interpretation of Deadwood’s history.  Students applying for the internship must be currently enrolled in a high school or university.

City Archives internships run for eight weeks with the possibility to continue longer based on the student’s academic schedule, availability, and time of the year.  Interested candidates should call or email the City Archives office at (605) 578-2082 or archives@cityofdeadwood.com during regular scheduled business hours.

 

TO APPLY

Perspective students interested in a City Archives internship will need to submit a letter of application (including your reasons for interest in this internship) and provide starting and ending dates for the internship.  In addition, students are required to fill out and submit with the letter of application the City of Deadwood Job Application.  Click HERE to view the application.

Pending HP and City Commission approval and pre-employment screening, City Archives staff will contact the student via email to set up an appointment for job orientation and complete the remaining employment paperwork.
