2013 MAC Lab Firearms Conservation Video
In 2013, the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission hired the Maryland Archeological Conservation Laboratory (MAC Lab) in St. Leonard, Maryland to clean and preserve five relic condition firearms unearthed during the Deadwood Chinatown archeological investigation. As part of their proposal, MAC Lab staffs x-rayed, documented, cleaned, desalinated, applied corrosion inhibitors and applied a protective coating on the firearms.
