The City of Deadwood offers a variety of parking options throughout town. Listed below are parking areas available to the public, some locations are metered/pay stations, and some areas provide free parking. Welcome Center Parking Lot (FREE)

Welcome Center Parking Lot: Vehicle, motorcycle, RV, and Bus parking available at the North end of Deadwood. The Deadwood Welcome Center offers all the information you will need during your visit to Deadwood. From this point you can also catch a trolley ride for two dollars per person to anywhere in Deadwood. 219 (FREE) total parking spaces with seven bus parking spaces available.

History and Information Center Parking Lot (PAY-BY-PLATE)

History and Information Center Parking Lot: Located in the heart of Deadwood and only one block from Historic Main Street, this parking lot is accommodating to vehicles and motorcycles only. Several twenty minute parking spaces (free) allow visitors to stop briefly to gather information about Deadwood in the Historic Railroad Depot located adjacent the parking lot. This is a pay by plate parking area and visitors will pay at one of the kiosks located in the parking lot after parking their vehicle. This lot offers a total 85 available parking spaces for vehicles and motorcycles.

Broadway Parking Ramp (PAY-BY-PLATE)

Broadway Parking Ramp: Deadwood offers covered parking for vehicles and motorcycles downtown less than a block off of Main Street in the Broadway Parking Ramp. This is a pay by plate parking area and visitors will pay at one of the four kiosks located at exit points of the garage after parking their vehicle. The kiosks accept the following forms of payment: Credit/Debit Cards, Coin.

Miller Street Parking Lot (PAY-BY-PLATE)

Miller Street parking Lot: This parking lot is accessible from Sherman Street near the Deadwood Recreation and Aquatic Center, Pine Street, or Lee Street. This is a pay by plate parking area and visitors will pay at one of the two kiosks located at the center of the parking lot after parking their vehicle. The kiosks accept the following forms of payment: Credit/Debit Cards, Coin. Please be advised, some of the parking spots are leased by private businesses and others are dedicated parking for the Recreation and Aquatics Center.

Sherman Street Parking Lot (FREE)

Sherman Street Parking Lot: Convenient parking to access Deadwood’s Historic Downtown or the Mickelson Trail. Public transportation for two dollars per person, trail information, picnic areas, access to Whitewood Creek, and walking distance to downtown are some of the amenities associated with this parking lot. 280 (FREE) parking spaces available for vehicles, motorcycles, and RV parking.

No unattached trailers allowed in the Sherman Street Parking Lot. No overnight camping allowed in the Sherman Street Parking Lot.

Railroad Street Parking Lot (PAY-BY-PLATE)

Railroad Street Parking Lot: Vehicle and charter bus parking located near Deadwood’s Downtown. This is a pay by plate parking area and visitors will pay at the kiosk located at the North end of the parking lot after parking their vehicle. There are a total of 38 parking spaces with five additional spaces dedicated for larger vehicles, RVs and trailers.

No unattached trailers allowed in the Railroad Street Parking Lot. No overnight camping allowed in the Railroad Street Parking Lot.

Deadwood Event Complex Parking Lot (FREE)

Deadwood Event Complex Parking Lot: For some convenient remote parking, utilize the Event Complex Parking Lot which is accessible to tractor-trailer, bus, vehicle, motorcycle, or RV parking with public transit available for two dollars per person. Periodically the City hosts events in the Event Complex and parking may not be available, signage will be posted at the entrance to the parking lot if an event is scheduled. Parking is also not available Friday nights from the last Friday in August through November for Lead/Deadwood High School football games.

Deadwood Hill Trail Head Parking Lot (FREE)

Deadwood Hill Trail Head Parking Lot (Constructed with assistance from the South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks with a grant through the Recreational Trail Program): Vehicle, RV, Bus, Trailer parking available on US HWY 85 just south of the Lodge at Deadwood. The Deadwood Hill Trail Head parking lot offers 43 free parking spaces with 35 oversized for RV's and trailers (19 of which are pull-through). It was constructed in 2025 specifically to provide future motorized trail access. It is the only publicly owned lot in Deadwood in which unattached trailers may be parked (Maximum of 7 Days). Coming soon to this lot is a trolley stop!

On-Street Parking

There are a mix of paid and free on-street parking around town. All parking on Lower Main Street is paid and costs $2.00/Hour. Upper Main Street is paid from Pine Street to Armory Street and costs $1.00/Hour. The other paid areas are Sherman Street from Pine Street to Pioneer Way, Deadwood Street from Sherman Street to Pioneer way, Lee Street from Sherman Street to Pioneer Way and Sieiver Street.

City Hall Parking Lot

City Hall Parking: Deadwood City Hall has parking spaces available for customers doing business with the City of Deadwood or Lawrence County during business hours. This parking lot is available after hours and on weekends to the public unless signed otherwise.

No RVs, vehicles with trailers, or large trucks allowed in the City Hall Parking Lot. No overnight camping allowed in the City Hall Parking Lot.

South Gateway (Pluma) Parking Lot (FREE)

South Gateway (Pluma) Parking Lot: This parking lot is located on Highway 85 at the south end of Deadwood. There are 21 (FREE) spaces available for vehicles and motorcycles, and four spaces available for RV parking. Public Restrooms, picnic areas, and information about Deadwood are available at this location in addition to access to the Mickelson Trail.

No trailers allowed in the South Gateway (Pluma) Parking Lot. No overnight camping allowed in the South Gateway (Pluma) Parking Lot.

Mount Moriah Cemetery Parking Lot (FREE PARKING-PAID ENTRY)

Mount Moriah Cemetery Parking Lot: One of Deadwood’s biggest attractions is the Mount Moriah Cemetery and parking is available on-site.Public restrooms are available seasonally along with a staffed information booth. 61 (FREE) parking spaces available.

RV’s, buses, and vehicles pulling trailers are not allowed to drive to Mount Moriah Cemetery due to the grade of the road leading to and from the cemetery.

Remote Parking

Remote Parking: Periodically throughout the year Deadwood hosts large events which require additional overflow parking areas. Information regarding overflow parking areas can be provided by the Deadwood Area Chamber of Commerce at (605) 578-1876.
